Our Work
Equipping church leaders to translate Scripture, so that churches are established and strengthened
we ADVOCATE For Churches who need God’s Word and educate churches to help provide it
We advocate and educate for global Bible translation needs.
Many Christians and churches are simply unaware of the global need to translate the Scriptures into the living languages of the world. Being unaware means being uninvolved.
The sobering truth is that thousands of languages still lack a full translation of Scripture. Because of this dire need, we aim to serve as advocates for the cause of Bible translation into all the languages of the world where God is building His church.
In this work of advocating and educating, we help churches, colleges, schools, and para-church ministries think through the challenges and opportunities related to integrating Bible translation with the church’s mission, so that healthy networks of churches are established and strengthened by having God’s Word translated and used in their life and ministry together.
We’re happy to help by presenting at churches and conferences, at Bible colleges and seminaries. An educated church is a praying church, and a praying church is a partnering church.
WE mentor and train
We mentor like-minded, godly servants to consider a vocation in Bible translation, or at the intersection of Bible translation and church planting, or Bible translation and theological education (i.e. church strengthening).
Since almost every skill and gift imaginable can be used to support Bible translation, we try to help others connect the dots between someone’s skills, knowledge and abilities with opportunities that serve the progress of Bible translation and building healthy churches.
We are slowly and carefully building a trusted group of BTF field partners.
We check translations
We help train translation teams by providing exegetical assistance during translation and then checking the translation against the biblical languages. We are working to get some of our BTF partners recognized as Translation Consultants so they can be of greater assistance to translation teams.
Consultants not only provide the “consultant check” that helps maintain accuracy to the original biblical languages, but they are a great resource for the ongoing training and exegetical assistance that many mother-tongue translators need.
All of BTF’s field partners are committed to seeing healthy churches planted and strengthened. Different partners have different roles on the translation team, and those can change over time, whether as translator, exegetical advisor, trainer of translators, or translation consultant; but all of our field partners are involved in some capacity in planting or strengthening churches and Bible translation.
