Understanding the Work of Bible Translation checking (i.e. “Consulting”)

The term "Bible translation consulting" typically requires some explanation for most people. 

A Translation Consultant is a person who is supposed to have facility in linguistics, one or more of the biblical languages, biblical studies, and experience in translation (whether as an exegetical consultant, translation advisor, translator, etc.).

This Translation Consultant (TC) works closely with the mother-tongue translators, both in helping them get ongoing training and in checking the translation via a back-translation.

Currently, BTF's Executive Director is a Consultant-in-Training and works under the supervision of an experienced Translation Consultant. Once BTF has its own recognized Translation Consultant, it can offer help to churches and translation teams that are working to translate and better minister God’s Word.

There are not enough laborers in Bible translation, so we need to train more laborer to serve in the Bible Translation Triad.
