Planting churches, training leaders & translating Scripture

Prior to living abroad, Matt worked as a coordinator for HeartCry Missionary Society for five years, serving the areas of Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, and Nepal. In 2011, he and his family moved to SE Asia to live and serve among an unreached people group. Their sending church is St. Rose Community Church.

Matt’s education includes: ethics and theology (BA, Union University), biblical studies and theology (MA, Reformed Theological Seminary), and Septuagint (MTh candidate, Trinity Western University).

Matt spends his time in church planting, training church leaders, advising translation teams, and teaching Greek at a seminary.

Translation ministry first began when Matt was learning the national language. He translated more than one-third of the New Testament from the Greek, which helped him learn both the language and translation principles from an experienced Javanese linguist.

Matt has been training and advising a team who are currently translating God’s Word into the Makasae language in East Timor.
